The Neighbourhood Christian Community (NCC) is the foundation and a new way of being the universal Catholic Church. It is not a church organisation, ministry or interest group. It is a small group of Catholics who come together as a community, live and share their faith in many aspects of spiritual life through Prayer, Word, Witness, Fellowship and Mission.
There are 11 small groups of Neighbourhood Christian Communities in St. Anne’s Church. Each group is organised independently by its group leader. To us, if you are a Catholic living in the vicinity of Sengkang, “you are automatically a member of (our community) – even if you do not attend any of (our meetings).” – Former Archbishop Nicholas Chia in The Catholic News (16 Aug 2009, Vol 59, No.17).

The NCC serves as a grassroots expression of parish life where baptised Catholics form small faith communities rooted in prayer, Scripture, fellowship, and mission. Members are responsible for actively participating in their NCC gatherings, sharing faith and personal experiences with one another, and supporting each other spiritually and in daily life. Small group leaders coordinate meeting times, facilitate discussions (such as Bible sharing), and help the community discern ways to live out the Gospel in both parish and neighbourhood contexts.
While NCC is not a formal parish ministry, it collaborates with the parish pastoral team by nurturing discipleship and strengthening the sense of belonging among parishioners at the neighbourhood level.

- Prayer & Scripture Sharing: Members gather at least twice a month to pray together and reflect on the Word of God, nurturing personal and collective growth.
- Fellowship: Small communities cultivate fellowship through social interaction, meals, and supportive conversations that strengthen bonds among members.
- Faith Sharing: Through guided conversation and personal testimony, members share insights from their faith journeys, encouraging mutual growth and accountability.
- Mission & Outreach: Groups discern and take part in simple acts of service — from supporting neighbours to participating in parish events — living out Christ’s call to love God and neighbour.
- Community Support: Members accompany one another through life’s challenges, offering spiritual, emotional, and prayerful support as part of a caring Christian network.

We do not impose any physical boundary for each small group, so everyone is free to join the one that works best for you. Each group has its passion and activities to share life and contemplate the Word of God together. Meetings and/or events are conducted at least twice a month to nurture an effective community. While everyone is given the choice to pick which group to join, do note that you can only belong to one small group — so, join one that inspires you to grow in faith with them regularly!

This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it:– “You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
Former Archbishop Nicholas Chia, during his time as the Archbishop of Singapore, put into words what our Neighbourhood Christian Communities (NCCs) are all about. He said,
“NCCs are where ordinary baptised Catholics respond to Christ’s command to love God and neighbour. Catholic families living in a certain area come together in an NCC as a social network of faith; they are a community of disciples that tries to bring about the Kingdom of God in that particular place.” – (The Catholic News – May 8, 2011, Vol 61, No9)

We conduct our Bible-sharing on the last Saturday of the month with a typical size of four to eight members. Our passion is to grow in faith and love for God through communion with our neighbours. We do this by sharing our faith through prayer and fellowship. Besides Bible sharing and prayer, other activities include helping out for Church events, outings, makan sessions, etc.

Our meetings are conducted every month with a typical size of 10 to 12 members. Our passion is to build a strong Catholic community through neighbourly love via spiritual and physical support. We want to show others what we do, not just by our talk but also by actions. Our activities include major festival gatherings, Rosary sessions (sometimes in Teochew), door-to-door interactions and potluck fellowship. Furthermore, we are looking to include fortnightly visits to the elderly who live alone for some chitchat and fellowship.

We strongly support one another to develop a personal relationship with God and strive to be a better group of faithful stewards for Christ by using our time, talent and treasure to serve His kingdom. Our main activity is a weekly Bible sharing through small group conversations and guided reflection. We are also passionate about the financial discipleship programme, ‘Navigating Your Finances God’s Way’, which helps others achieve true financial freedom through practising the essential biblical principles consistently. Our sessions are conducted via Zoom every Friday at 8:30 PM. Members are encouraged to join our fellowship walk/run every Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 AM, as well as our monthly potluck dinner.
