GENERAL INFORMATION

Dear Parents,

We are still open for new registration.   Our sessions are primarily held on Saturdays, with Special Needs sessions taking place on Sunday afternoons.

Registration will open in December 2024 for the 2025 catechetical sessions (catechism) for the following groups:

  • K1, K2, L1: children born between 2018 and 2020
  • Bridging for Children (2 PM): children born between 2014 and 2016
  • Bridging for Youths (4 PM): children born between 2011 and 2013
  • RCIY (TBC): teens born in 2010 or earlier

Transfers are accepted from other parishes for those who have moved within the boundaries of St Anne’s Church.  Please submit a letter of transfer from your current parish.  It should include the history of catechism for the past 2 years and all the sacraments received to date.

Priority is given to children residing within St Anne’s parish boundaries, those with older siblings already attending St Anne’s, and children of active ministry or community members of the parish. This policy is in place due to a shortage of catechists at some levels and space constraints, as we anticipate a cohort of around 900 children—almost the size of a typical school in Singapore, though not the largest.

For families residing outside our boundaries, we encourage you to contact the catechetical coordinator at your nearest parish. If you still wish to register your child with us, they will be placed on a waiting list until early February, when we will confirm placements.

The online registration form will be available on this page. Due to the large numbers, we do not accept registrations by email. For further queries, please email sac.catechist@catholic.org.sg.

Love is an action; not a saying. Being a catechist… my little way of loving God…
Gracy Toh, Preschool Catechist
Thank you God for letting me grow with the children in faith and to serve joyfully…
Jenny Tan, P4 Catechist
I thought I was the one “GIVING” to the children, I have gained so much more from them and from the process. I have learned what service and stewardship is all about….. I do not need to be perfect, I just need to be available.
Bridget Lachica, CPL Catechist
Joining “CLAY” actually made me more involved with the Church and gives me a sense of belonging …. There is so much to be done, but so little helpers. Saying that you have no time is always an easy excuse, just put aside a few hours of your time and knowledge for the service of God and His Children, will actually make the Church a better place for our children to grow in their faith
Alan Tan, CLAY

About the Catechetical Ministry

The Catechetical Ministry provides on-going faith formation for baptised children and teens and prepares them for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation.

We also conduct the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children and Youths (RCIC / RCIY) for
children/youth aged 9 to 25 years. It is suited for the following children/youth who are:

  • baptised with no formal catechesis or;
  • from overseas or;
  • unbaptised and wish to be baptised
To enhance the faith formation of our parishioners where the word of God is proclaimed and the traditions of the Catholic Church taught in an effort to have the faith of all become living, conscious and active.
Our Roles as Catechist:

Your vocation from God is not only as a teacher of faith but also to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

The six fundamental tasks of a Catechist (GDC #85) are to:

  • Promote the knowledge of faith.
  • Give moral formation.
  • Provide liturgical education.
  • Teach how to pray.
  • Educate for community life.
  • Initiate into the missionary dimension.

Our Catechetical Family

Our Ministry consists of the following in order to serve St Anne’s Church more effectively:

  • Sharing our Faith (as above) from K1 to L9 (Sec 3) in Catechetical Sessions
  • Conduct Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)
  • Conduct Rite of Christian Initiation for Youth (RCIY)
  • Conduct preparatory sessions for our Special Needs Children
  • Children’s Liturgy (for Sunday 11:30 AM mass)
