The Rite of Christian Initiation for Youth (RCIY) accompanies young people (14-25 years old) who are new to the Catholic faith to encounter Jesus Christ and follow him as disciples. The formation process reaches its climax in the initiation sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist (or, for the baptised Christian, the Rite of Acceptance into the Full Communion with the Roman Catholic Church).
Who should join RCIY?
– Non-Christians
– Baptised Christians seeking to find out more about and/or join the Catholic Church
Date/Time: Saturdays 6-8pm (Weekly)
Duration: 23rd August 2025 till end-2026 (1.5 years)

For Sponsors
RCIY is also looking for sponsors (21 years and above) to befriend inquirers in their journey!
Sponsors are trusted friends who listen to, welcome and accompany inquirers. Sponsors act as the direct link from the parish community to the inquirer. Sponsors, in conjunction with godparents, will accompany inquirers/catechumens through the various liturgical rites (Rite of Acceptance, Rite of Election & Scrutinies) as well as the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist).
Sponsors are NOT catechists! You don’t need to know all Catholic teachings! What is most important is that you share your experience as a Catholic and offer the gift of friendship :) You will not be alone in this, as it takes a whole community to raise a Christian!
Sponsors are NOT godparents! (However, it is possible for someone to be both the sponsor as well as the godparent of a catechumen.)
As a sponsor, look forward to formation and a supportive community in your ministry!
Prepare to be surprised as well! The faith of the inquirers/catechumens will, from time to time, inspire you and awaken a deeper awareness of Jesus’ presence in your life!
The deadline for sponsors sign-ups is 20th July 2025.
