Ministry of Consolation (MOC)
Jesus said: “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” Jn 14:18
OBJECTIVES:
- To pray for the dead.
- To comfort those who mourn.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- MOC usually provide one night of night prayers for the bereaved family. Upon request, MOC may offer more than one night of prayers when circumstances permit.
- We co-ordinate and assist the family with the Funeral Mass/Service.
- We also conduct the Rite of Committal at the Crematorium.
- MOC conducts monthly Columbarium prayers at the Church Columbarium on the last Sunday of each month.
ACTIVITIES
- Conduct bi-monthly Ministry meeting with Spiritual Director.
- Organise Ministry Annual Retreat.
- Support priests’ blessing of the niches at All Souls Day.
- Participate in Church-related events.
To offer consolation is one of the most important ways to care.
